Eight, raised at home

She ran a small school for twenty-some years.

Eight children, homeschooled from the first letter to the last exam. She wrote the curriculum, kept the standards, started the societies, and somehow kept the whole thing warm.

The work of it

A curriculum, a choir, and a few societies.

Homeschooling eight is not one job; it's eight overlapping ones. Reading and arithmetic, then music, then the clubs and societies she founded to give the lessons somewhere to go. She built the institutions her own children grew up inside.
